The 100 Island Challenge team completed the second round of surveys in Micronesia at Pohnpei island, Pakin atoll and Ant atoll in summer 2018. Scripps Institution of Oceanography has been actively working with OneReef, Conservation Society of Pohnpei and the Rhosa at Ant Atoll to provide assessments of the benthic and fish communities for better reef management. This visit was the third to Ant Atoll, providing a bit more background before the warm-water event hit the area in 2015/2016.

During the expedition, the team collected 18 mosaics and collected fish assemblage data and benthic photoquadrats at 21 sites. Additionally, 7 temperature recorders were recovered across the islands to monitor nearshore sea temperature throughout the 2-year time span.
