What do corals eat anyway? Corals get nutrients in two ways– from microscopic algae living within their cells as well as ‘hunting’ for food when the polyp extends tentacles to consume microscopic zooplankton from the waters current. Dr. Mike Fox, a recent PhD graduate from the Smith Lab found that corals get more nutrients from hunting than previously thought.
