100IC Team Participating on NOAA CREP Cruises

This summer, members of the 100 Island Challenge team will be joining the NOAA Coral Reef Ecosystem Program (CREP) to survey the islands of the Hawaiian archipelago! The mission of the Coral Reef Ecosystem Program (CREP) is to provide high-quality scientific information about the status and trends of coral reef ecosystems of the central and western Pacific (see map) to the resource managers, policymakers, and public at domestic and international levels.

The 100IC Team will be visiting the main Hawaiian Islands (Oahu, Big Island, Maui, Kaui, Niihau) in addition to the Northwest Hawaiian Islands. All 3 legs of the research cruise will be aboard the NOAA ship R/V Hi’ialakai, with each leg ranging from 2-4 weeks in length.
